CAIR Michigan had its annual banquet on the 25th of March. It was a fairly informative event attended by many people. The keynote address was given by Sahar Aziz, a nationally renowned attorney for individual rights and law, who served as a Senior Policy Advisor for the Office for Civil Rights and Civil Liberties at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. She has also worked on public policy issues related to the intersection of national security and civil rights.

The Council on American-Islamic Relations Michigan Chapter (CAIR-MI) is a nonprofit organization that aims to  enhance the understanding of Islam, encourage dialogue, protect civil liberties, empower American Muslims and build coalitions that promote justice and mutual understanding through education, mediation, media and the law.

Haaris Ahmad (President), Dawud Walid (Vice President) and the whole outreach team of CAIR Michigan works in conjunction with statewide and national media to ensure an accurate portrayal of Islam and Muslims to the American public.

It is due to civil right organizations like CAIR Michigan that American Muslims know that there is someone looking out for their best interests and everyone will be treated equally and fairly.
